As an undocumented minor growing up in California in the 1990s, there were limited opportunities for higher education for me until the passage of AB540. Being able to pay in-state tuition, getting state scholarships and working part time, I funded my own education with a BS in Physics in 2006, obtaining my citizenship in 2008, and PhD in Experimental Particle Physics in 2013. Due to my lack of time management and shyness for asking for help, I did not get an offer to graduate school initially. As opportunities arises, I had the chance to work in many research fields: Quantum Optics, Seismology, Experimental Particle Physics, Science Education and Atmospheric Science with many adventures on the way.
