The B.S. in Physics Returns to Sonoma State University!

Sonoma State University is proud to re-launch its Bachelor of Science in Physics, featuring a redesigned, student-centered curriculum available beginning Fall 2026. The revised program offers a rigorous physics foundation, small class sizes, close faculty mentorship, and flexible pathways that support timely graduation. What Physicists Do

The Department of Physics and Astronomy has presented the "What Physicists Do" series each semester since Spring 1971. The entire history of the series may be browsed or searched, and please feel free to peruse our many Award-Winning Speakers of the series. The more than 1000 speakers have included sixteen Nobel Prize recipients, three Crafoord Prize recipients, ten recipients of the National Medal of Science, nine MacArthur Fellows, eight Bruce Medalists, and a great many other outstanding scientists, professors, and engineers.
