What Physicists Do Zoom Link

Please note that this presentation is a different day and time than normal. The presentation will be on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at 12pm.

Holbrook presents the field of ‘cultural astronomy’ with the caveat that there are no jobs, however there are also very few permanent jobs in astronomy & astrophysics, too. Cultural Astronomy research is interdisciplinary by definition and requires different data collection and data analysis tools compared to physics/astrophysics. Holbrook’s current research project, ASTROMOVES, examines how intersectional astrophysicists navigate their careers. Included will be how Holbrook navigated the move from physics to astrophysics to cultural astronomy.
