Dr. John Dunning of Sonoma State University: The potential of the Geysers seemed unbounded in 1973 when I gave the first WPD seminar on the subject. In the 80's the steam field turned out to be finite. Recharge using municipal sewage was initiated in the 90's. To expand the reservoir, hydraulic fracturing was attempted in 2009.
